Our fundraising campaigns and events ensure that our programmes and operations can continue to run and grow.
They are a crucial part of our work and we take pride in curating an exclusive, uniquely TENG experience each time.
Below are a few of our past campaigns and events. If you are interested in partnering with us for one, please contact partnerships@thetengcompany.com.
The TENG Company's 20th Anniversary Gala Night raises vital funds for purpose-driven music that supports society's underserved, underprivileged, and marginalised. This exclusive gala also champions Singaporean creatives and future generations of musical excellence, fostering a shared cultural identity that unites communities and enriches our collective heritage.
As part of the gala, we are honoured to present the preview and world premiere of ‘起承转合 The Singaporean Composers Series’, a groundbreaking presentation by The TENG Company, Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre and Temasek Foundation.
Adding a touch of culinary flair to the evening, you will be treated to a pre-show standing dinner reception that features a menu celebrating Singapore's diverse heritage, specially curated by Khir Johari, the acclaimed author of ‘The Food Of Singapore Malays’.
Join us for an immersive experience as one of Singapore’s leading music companies guides you through an evening of connection with like-minded patrons who share a passion for the arts. Your attendance at the gala is more than entertainment; it is a commitment to building a harmonious society through the universal language of music.
Held from 7:00pm on Saturday, 29 October 2022 at The Riady Performing Arts Centre in Singapore American School, TENG presents a stunning evening of works that showcases the research which underpins our musical aspirations, highlighting our emphasis on education and programmes working with the youth – ranging from projects with students with special needs to grading examinations and scholarships, as well as TENG's impact on the the community centered on the healing power of music.
Dr. Maurine Tsakok, acclaimed gynaecologist and fertility expert, launched her book – On Purpose. The book details Dr. Tsakok's life - from her youth in China and Mauritius to becoming one of Singapore's first women gynaecologists and then some. She has graciously dedicated all proceeds collected to be donated to charity and has launched a giving.sg campaign in support of TENG.
TENG has been chosen as one of the beneficiaries of this fundraising campaign as TENG's music reminded her of her roots in China, while at the same time being contemporary and accessible to all. She resonated with TENG's aspiration to bring cultures together and empower future generations of musicians and audiences in, and beyond, Singapore.
All donations $30 and above towards the campaign are eligible for a 2.5x tax-deductible receipt. Furthermore, contributions of $100 and above will receive a signed copy of On Purpose. Donations received from this campaign will go a long way in funding TENG's programmes and initiatives, enabling it to continue doing what it does best! All of us at TENG would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude towards Dr. Tsakok and our fans for their unending love and support. Without you, TENG would not be able to continue making an impact!
One of our initiatives, TENG Gives Back, stems from our desire to bring live music to the elderly to rekindle experiences and promote emotional healing. Over the last two years, we have provided music and comfort to over 3,000 individuals across various beneficiaries like Renci Community Hospital and St. Andrew's Nursing Home.
Given the existential threats of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are unable to continue performing for our audiences and beneficiaries. As we continue to grapple with the debilitating effects of the pandemic, we seek to embark on a journey to digitalise our performances and initiatives to continue empowering the community with our music. Under these circumstances, donors and supporters like yourself will go a long distance to sustain our programmes.
Through an evening of music by The TENG Ensemble and other guest performances at the Victoria Theatre on 22 March 2019, the “Mind the Music!” concert was a first ever joint fundraising event by Caregivers Alliance Limited (CAL) and The TENG Ensemble. The event aimed to further the work of both charities in a fun and groundbreaking new way and tied awareness of mental health together with appreciation for Chinese culture and heritage.
The evening featured four original works by The TENG Ensemble, dubbed “酸甜苦辣”, or The Four Flavours of Life Suite, covering a range of styles that marries the traditional style of Chinese instruments with contemporary music. The concert has spread the word of the need to support caregivers and advocate against mental health stigma through the powerful conduit of music and welcomed President Halimah Yacob as the Guest-Of-Honour of the event.
