Required documents

Candidates are required to present the Examination’s notification letter, his/her NRIC/student pass, the Examination’s music scores and instrument(s) (unless otherwise stated) when reporting.


Provision of instruments

Only Guzheng (D Key and G Key), Yangqin (402 model), Double Bass (1/2 and 3/4 size) and Percussion instruments will be provided. Accessories (e.g. mallets, bows) are not provided. All other instruments are to be candidates’ own.


Music scores

Candidates are required to present the original copies of scores when reporting for the Examinations. You may view details on usage of scores during the Examinations here, or view the full list of retailers here.


For candidates taking Digital Examinations

Candidates taking the digital Examinations will be assessed of their performances through video submissions. Videos have to be submitted from the date of receiving the notification of the Examination details to 10 November 2024. Details on the video recording and submission will be released at a later date.


Examination durations

The duration for each grading level varies, from approximately 10 minutes (Grade 1 Examination) to 30 minutes (Examination for Certificate in Professional Performance).

Candidates will be given approximately 15 – 30 minutes for tuning of instruments before the Examinations.


Rearrangement of Examination date (face-to-face Examinations)

Candidates (for Grade 1 to Grade 8 only) can now choose to take the Examinations either face-to-face or digitally.

The Examinations will not be rescheduled. Please ensure that you are available during the period of Examinations (25 November to 7 December 2024). If the candidates are unable to be present for the face-to-face Examinations, they should opt for the digital Examinations, or will be asked to submit their videos online. No refunds will be made for failure to attend the face-to-face Examinations and/or submit the examination videos. 

Candidates taking the face-to-face Examinations will receive their Examination notifications by 30 October 2024.
